Israeli Athletics Association
The Israeli Athletics Association is the body responsible for organizing and managing athletic activities in Israel. In 1996, the Association severed ties with the Israel Sports Federation to become an independent legal entity – and registered as an association with the Registrar of Associations in Israel. The Israeli Athletics Association is recognized by the State of Israel for coordinating and managing athletics in the country, and consequently constitutes the Israeli body that represents the country before international bodies such as: the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations), the EAA (European Athletic Association), other continental athletics associations, national athletic associations, and before other public bodies around the world.
The Association plans activities for the short-term, medium-term and long-term, is alert to the changes in the environs in which it operates, and adapts itself to those changes. The reality in Israel is that the pace of change is fast, whether social, professional or budgetary, and as a result, the Association is flexible in its planning, and able to propose immediate changes in response to events occurring around it.
